These Terms govern your use of Babinom — the iOS app and this website. By creating an account or otherwise using Babinom you agree to be bound by them.

1. The Service
Babinom is a mobile application that helps individuals or couples discover baby names through a swiping interface, browse and filter a multilingual catalog of names with etymologies and meanings, and optionally connect with a partner to compare picks. The App is provided by Daan Vos, sole proprietor operating as Babinom, with principal place of business in Cullera, Spain (“we,” “us,” “our”).
Some features are free; others require purchase of an in-app “pack.” Pack pricing, availability, and benefits are described in the App and are subject to change.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country, whichever is higher) to use Babinom. By using the App you confirm you meet this age requirement. The App is not intended for and may not be used by minors below this age.
3. Your Account
To use most features you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, notify us promptly at support@babinom.com if you suspect unauthorized access, and be responsible for activity under your account.
We may suspend or terminate your account for breach of these Terms, prolonged inactivity, fraud, or as required by law. You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account; deletion is permanent and removes your profile, matches, room data, and purchase history attributable to your account.
4. Partner Pairing and Rooms
Babinom lets you connect with a partner to share name picks. You may invite a partner with a code. Both partners can see each other's swipes and matches within the room.
You agree to only invite people you know, to respect that swipes, matches, and shared decisions may be visible to your partner, and to use the “Leave Room” option in Settings if you wish to end the shared session. Leaving does not delete your partner's account.
We are not responsible for the consequences of any name choices, disagreements, or social outcomes that arise from your use of the App.
5. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
Pack purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) per their respective terms. Babinom uses RevenueCat to manage entitlement state.
Purchases are billed to your App Store or Play Store account. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period via your App Store or Play Store settings. Refunds are governed by Apple's or Google's policies; we cannot refund directly. You can restore prior purchases via Settings → Restore Purchases.
If you purchase a pack while connected to a partner, the unlocked content is accessible to both partners within the room for the duration of the entitlement.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the App for any unlawful purpose, reverse-engineer or decompile it, harvest baby-name data for resale, send false partner invites, harass other users, use offensive display names, submit custom names that are obscene or unlawful, or circumvent paywalls and other technical restrictions. We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these rules.
7. Name Meanings and AI-Generated Content
The App displays etymological meanings, origins, and translations for thousands of names. Some of this content is drawn from public-domain sources such as Wikidata, some is generated or translated using AI language models (currently OpenAI's gpt-4o-mini), and some is editorially curated by us.
AI-generated meanings are produced automatically and may contain errors, omissions, or culturally insensitive phrasings despite our best efforts. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or cultural appropriateness of any name meaning shown in the App, and you should not rely on it for genealogical, religious, or legal purposes. 8. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, branding, and curated dictionaries, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and trademark law. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You retain ownership of any custom names you submit, but you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to display, store, and process them as needed to operate the App.
9. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE OR (B) FIFTY EUROS (€50). WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA OR LOST PROFITS, EVEN IF WE WERE ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
These limitations do not apply where prohibited by applicable consumer-protection law, notably for EU and UK consumers.
11. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time for breach, fraud, or as required by law. You may stop using the App or delete your account at any time. Sections 5–10 and 12–13 survive termination.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via the App or email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the competent Spanish courts, except where EU consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
